Is it possible to create more functionality with our bots using javascript? I'd like to be able to make my bots do things like open web pages and initiate timers in between sequenced responses

We release the "Swingdroid" project into open source today.
Swingdroid lets you port a Java Android app to Windows/Mac desktop as a Java swing application.

The test GUI has a menu item to load a file.

You can also write a Java class to load a script into the bot.

I checked your bot, 'r0ckteacher' and do not see any repeats in its conversation log.

Bots will reply with the responses or scripts that you train them with. If you have an empty bot with no trained responses it will just repeat your input back to you. Also be careful not to enable learning, otherwise the bot will learn your input as new responses.

Hi. The test gui only repeats back what I type instead of answering questions. There are no error messages.

Bots have a limited database size, if you exceed this, you must delete something in order to import something new.

Bots will automatically remove old data and garbage nightly. You can also run the "forgetfullness" task from your bots Knowledge page in its Admin Console to clean up its database. You can also reset it memory from the Knowledge page (deleting everything), or create a new bot.

I am getting the following message "Memory size exceeded, importing has been disable until nightly forgetfullness task runs" when calling http://www.botlibre.com/rest/api/import-bot-script.

Is there any way to flush the background buffer?

Thnx for the pointers! Got it working now by creating a script in the script library and importing to the bot. Is there a create-script equivalent API call for the bot that creates a new script directly in the bot? (ie. create-bot-script)

If you have two patterns that match the same question then the pattern matching the first word will be used.

AIML is not very good for supporting keywords, I would recommend a response list instead.

AIML can either bot loaded as a script, or as a response list.
When loaded as a response list the (non * patterns) will be automatically matched using our keyword heuristic.

I'm trying to integrate BotLibre in my project: I've been able to successfully create bots and provide them with a consistent knowledge base, but still I'm not able to make them persistent on the DB, for a pending dialog to be resumed at a later time.

I suppose my entry point is Bot.createInstanceFromPool with isSchema="true" (correct?), but it always fails with the following message:

For robotics you will want to our Bot Libre's command support. A JSON command can be returned as part of a message. The command can be used by the client or app to perform some action, such as moving the head. This is how Bot Libre's virtual assistant support works, commands are used to open apps and send email.

Bot Libre bots are based on an object-oriented knowledgebase that is stored in a relational database.
Bot Libre normally uses PostgreSQL, but is based on JDBC and JPA, so should be able to work with Oracle as well.

If we load as response list then does the pattern wildcards used in our AIML has no effect ?

For AIML that is mostly questions and responses, importing as a response list is better as it is more efficient and allows the usage of our heuristic matching.

For AIML that uses complex patterns, templates, and topics, then importing as a script is better.

Which technique should ideally be used, loading AIML as script or as an response list?

Topics are not automatic, the conversation topic must either be set by a response, or a script.

You can associate topics with a response, or use topics in a script or AIML.
